Tansley Woods has several therapeutic courtyards, outdoor patios, gardens and walkways around the property for residents enjoyment of the outdoors.

The unique design of the LTC facility allows residents to access the outdoors from each of the 5 home areas.

The facility offers a unique Alzheimers/Dementia care continuum. The three steps in the continuum will be the Supportive Care Floor in the Retirement Home for early stages, the Active Dementia Home Area in the LTC for middle stages and the Advanced Dementia Care Home Area for later stages. Specialized programs will be offered including a Dementia Care Nurse with specialized expertise.

The LTC facility provides a Younger Adult Unit for younger persons requiring long-term care and addresses the unique care needs of persons with Acquired Brain Injury, Huntington's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, etc. This provides a more age appropriate social and recreational environment.

Health and Wellness Programs are offered to residents of the facility. These programs target foot care, skin care, heart health, post stroke, diabetes, arthritis, Parkinson's etc. The program includes resident education, visiting medical specialists and exercise programs.

The Depression Management Program involves staff education/training in an effort to prevent depression and, when present, to identify, assess and treat through a specialized treatment plan. The program is coordinated by the Behavioural Management Nurse on site

The Addiction Program focuses on educating staff about addictions and uses standardized instruments for assessments. Specialized treatment programs are available for residents who have experienced an addiction in their lifetime.

The Functional Abilities Program assesses the resident's level of biomechanical and psychomotor functioning (gait, balance, range of motion, muscle strength/power, fine and gross motor co-ordination); identifies functional deficits, develops a plan of treatment and reassesses the resident for restorative progress. This program is a unique partnership with the University of Waterloo and its expertise in kinesiology and neuropsychology.

A comprehensive Horticulture Therapy Program is offered at the facility which takes a holistic therapy approach (including other therapies such as aroma, massage, music and taste).
