Concept
The Village of Riverside Glen is Guelph's unique continuum of care community for seniors offering a full range of care support levels. As the level of care required may change with the passage of time, the resident will not be forced to uproot to a new facility at a different location - a move that is often disruptive, if not traumatic. At Riverside Glen, the resident will merely move to a different level of care within the Village. Riverside Glen's continuum of care will also allow spouses to remain together instead of being separated should a sudden illness occur.
To help make the continuum of care concept work, our community is designed as a village. Like a traditional village, we have a variety of common areas and amenities along our Main Street and in the Village Square. However, because the Village is indoors, it remains comfortable in any weather - winter or summer, rain or shine. The Village of Riverside Glen includes:
Riverside Glens Long Term Care Facility (LTC) - a 96 bed Ministry of Health licensed facility. Access to the LTC facility is managed by the Community Care Access Centre. The LTC facility will have three separate specialized care units, called "home areas".

The Active Dementia Care Home Area for persons with Alzheimers and related dementia who are wandering and physically active. |

The Advanced Dementia Care Home Area for persons with Alzheimers and related dementia who area no longer wandering and physically active and whose care needs are primarily of a physically nature. |

The Advanced Physical Care Home Area for persons who are cognitively alert and whose care needs are primarily physical in nature. This home area also includes a unit for young adults where their unique a recreational and social needs can be met. |
Riverside Glen Retirement Home - a 196 suite retirement care residence offering 100 ground floor "patio" suites for relatively independent seniors, 48 Supportive Care suites for seniors experiencing mild to moderate confusion and 48 Assisted Care Suites for seniors who have additional physical care needs.
Foxwood Place and Parkside Place are rental and life-lease seniors apartments. Residents may choose from a variety of services including housekeeping, meals, and health-care assistance. They can also participate in the entertainment and activity programs of the Village.
